Cape Medical Supply Representatives Travel to Washington DC to Meet with Federal Legislators on Healthcare Policy
Cape Medical Supply President and Chief Executive Officer Gary Sheehan and Assistant Business Manager Michael Sheehan travelled to the AAHomecare Legislative Summit June 1-3 to meet with representatives of their Senators and Congressional Offices, to discuss healthcare reform and the current state of affairs in the home medical equipment and home respiratory care industry. The meetings were part of an ongoing effort to educate health policy leaders on the value provided by homecare organizations and the work done to help serve Medicare beneficiaries in the region.
“Our industry sector has seen continuing funding cuts, most recently a 9.5% cut on January 1, 2009,” said Chief Executive Officer Gary Sheehan, “yet we continue to deliver one of the most cost effective solutions for the healthcare system and create a net savings by keeping patients where they want to be, and where they can be served most efficiently, in their homes.”
The trip was the third time this year Cape Medical Supply representatives have travelled to Washington DC to meet with officials, in addition to their invited attendance at a White House Forum on Healthcare Reform which was held in Burlington, VT. Meetings were conducted with the offices of Senator John Kerry, Congressman Michael Capuano, Congressman Michael Burgess, M.D. (TX), Congressman John Tierney, Congressman Barney Frank, and Congressman William Delahunt.
