Please join Vermont Governor Jim Douglas and Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick for the Northeast White House Regional Forum on Health Reform. The forum will take place Tuesday, March 17 at 1pm at the University of Vermont in Burlington, Vermont.
Last week, President Obama invited a bipartisan group of lawmakers, physicians, health care executives, business leaders, and Americans from across the country to the White House for a forum on health reform. The President expressed his intention to enact comprehensive health reform by the end of this year.
The President has vowed that the health reform process will be different in his Administration – an open, inclusive, and transparent process where all ideas are encouraged and all parties work together to find a solution that will result in affordable, high-quality health care for all Americans. Skyrocketing health care costs for families, businesses, and government are unsustainable. After the forum last week, the President announced that the White House would be teaming up with a bipartisan group of governors from around the country to host regional forums on health reform.
On Tuesday, Vermont will host the second of several regional events held across the country to continue the productive discussion that began in Washington D.C. recently. As states that have been leading the nation in health reform efforts, Vermont and Massachusetts are a perfect fit to help lead a regional discussion. These events are a crucial part of President Obama’s plan to engage Americans in the national debate about improving our health system. Please join Governors Douglas and Patrick, as well as representatives from the Obama Administration, and lend your voice to the discussion that will advise President Obama and members of Congress on how to enact meaningful health reform this year.
