Cape Medical Supply has received a lot of press about our expansion into the Boston marketplace, a project which was actually several years in the making and went through several iterations and ideas before we recently implemented it.

During such dismal times for our industry our expansion has generated a lot of attention - many view it as counterintuitive; many companies (especially the larger national companies) are in the process of cutting services, reducing headcount, and substituting the cheapest products possible into their portfolio. For us this is an overly simplistic approach – one which plays right into the hands of policy makers who think companies like ours are just "equipment jockeys" anyway.

We disagree, strongly.

The best return on dollars invested in the healthcare sector comes from homecare. It is financially efficient, patient, preferred, and remains the slowest growing sub-segment of the healthcare sector. The SERVICES companies like ours deliver save our country multiple millions, if not billions, of dollars in unnecessary spending on inpatient and residential care…now is the time the federal government should be seeking innovative ways to increase utilization in this sub-sector – alas, they are not.

But I digress; we remain committed to delivering the highest quality service and care possible, and to doing so in new and exciting territories in the months and years to come. Not only are we adding a new location in the Greater Boston market, we are also in the middle of extensive refurbishment, renovation and expansion at our Falmouth Retail store. At Cape Medical Supply our team continues to look ahead – and take great pride in the work we are able to do in the communities we serve…we are working hard to reduce costs but we are doing so in a responsible and sustainable way, in a way that allows us to continue to take pride in who we are, what we stand for, and what we prioritize over all else – service and care for the patients we are trusted to care for.
