The Passing of our co-founder

It’s been a trying few weeks around Cape Medical Supply, as company co-founder Mark Sheehan, my dad, passed away three weeks ago today. Mark was deeply connected to so many of our long term employees, so the loss has been tough on the entire company. We have all managed to share some wonderful stories about his life, sense of humor, and some of the great anecdotes through the years – this has helped all of us deal with the loss and move forward.

Mark cared only about a few things when it came to his company;
1. That team members worked hard and took pride in their jobs
2. That there was a strong work environment and all team members were treated fairly
3. That we provided the most customer-centric level of care possible and always delivered on our Mission
Those principles will live well into the future, with an entrenched executive management team in place and dozens of longer term employees here to deliver on the promise of superior service and care.

Another thing Mark had a deep passion for was the local community, particularly those non-profits who are working so hard to deliver care and services to those among us who are less advantaged or who have fallen on hard times. Throughout his career he always prioritized time and resources to help the local community and it was important to him that it too lived on. Donations of time and money were never couched as a choice when I came back to this company – they were a responsibility that every business should bear and if they did they could create a better community because of it.

In his honor, and continue this legacy, we have founded “The Cape Medical Supply Mark Sheehan Memorial Foundation” whose fundraising will support the local non-profit community, with special focus on end of life care and cancer support services, two things he benefitted greatly from during his last few months of life. We have done some very successful initial fundraising and are in the very early stages of planning a golf tournament to support the work of the foundation.

I think my dad lead a special life and I am deeply honored to help carry forth his legacy here on Cape Cod and beyond.
