Medicare Fraud in South Florida
Published on 05/07/09 08:40AM by Gary SheehanFraud, waste and abuse continue to cause problems and headaches for honest providers across the country.
This story from ABC World News Tonight illustrates how big the problem is in South Florida, where it is particularly blatant and egregious.
The story does a wonderful job at illustrating how poor a job the Medicare program has done at overseeing the publics investment, and illustrates the need for additional policing – basic stuff – to protect the integrity and longevity of the Medicare program.
It’s an embarrassment for an honest provider to see these things and get painted with the same brush as these thugs and criminals. I welcome anyone to come visit any of our four locations to see the level of service and care we are providing for our patients, in many cases at a financial loss because of the Medicare rate schedules. We continue to take great pride in the work we do to care for our nations seniors, as do the great majority of DME companies across the country.
The sooner Medicare can step-up their enforcement efforts to get this problem under control, the sooner we will all be able to have an honest conversation about reasonable rates and fair minded regulation.
