About Us
Cape Medical Supply, Inc. was founded by husband and wife Mark and Nancy Sheehan in Mashpee, in 1977. Working initially out of their home the company serviced home oxygen patients across Cape Cod, Plymouth County, and Nantucket Island. Over time we have broadened our product portfolio to include a full line of Durable Medical Equipment (DME) and many of the other items required to administer quality care in the home.
With Mark and Nancy's oldest son, Gary Sheehan, now leading the way, the company continues to elevate their level of service to the community. Cape Medical Supply works with healthcare professionals, hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, homecare agencies, as well as families and individuals, to ensure that people receive the very best equipment and service possible.
In 2005 Cape Medical Supply acquired Cape & Islands Oxygen and the Personal Care Center from Cape Cod Healthcare, which served to further strengthen our commitment to the community and service capabilities. Through this acquisition we greatly enhanced our size, and were fortunate to retain several of the excellent staff members who decided to come along to Cape Medical Supply. This size advantage has allowed us to enhance our programs and bolster our distribution presence, which greatly benefits our patients and referral partners.
After founding a uniform division in 1994 in Hyannis, MA, we decided in 2006 to divest this division to the store manager so we could focus solely on the future as a company dedicated to serving the needs of patients and facilities. The store is still there and still serving the uniform needs of healthcare professionals; it is now known as Suited for Work and owned and managed by Barbara Lauze.
In 2006 we acquired Helpful Home Medical of Plymouth, MA and now have a full line retail operation inside Wal-Mart in Plymouth, MA. Nikolas Petravicz founded Helpful Home Medical and remained on with Cape Medical Supply to manage the store, assist with operations in Plymouth, and give critical guidance on retail operations company-wide.
